Gemunu Watch Ex- Servicemen's Disabled War Heroes Fund.

We kindly request you to assist the Gemunu Watch Ex-Servicemen's Regimental Association (GWESRA) to help our valiant disabled war heroes who had been fighting the ruthless terrorists to protect our country during the past three decades. We are proud members of the Gemunu Watch, one of Sri Lanka Army's frontline infantry regiments, who had the honour to serve our motherland and now wish to assist our comrades who are presently in service.

This project is to assist about 200 amputees(of whom 5 have lost both limbs) of our Regiment who have been unfortunately disabled due to the ongoing conflict. We intend to donate "Commode chairs" (see attachment)for all of them imported from China at a cost of approximately Rs.5000/= to Rs.10,000/=(for wheel chair Commodes). The presently available chairs locally(imported) are around Rs.7000/= to Rs.15000/=.As an initial step we provided 20 such chairs through the Thawalama Development Fund at our AGM on 15th March 2009 at Kuruwita with the patronage of Col.Anil Amerasekera. It was a resounding success and those recipients were overwhelmed by the donations.

Therefore, we request your kind support to help us in providing the balance disabled valiant war heroes these commode chairs as they are greatly inconvenienced in attending to their daily toilet needs. These chairs are portable and certainly cost effective enabling the user to overcome one of his urgent needs with minimum comfort.
