Disabled Gemunu Watch soldiers receive commode seats

Another successful project implemented jointly by the Thawalama Development Foundation and the Manel Mal Movement was concluded at the Gemunu Watch Regimental centre in Kuruwita on 15th March 2009.

There are twenty regular and volunteer battalions in the Gemunu Watch Regiment at present. A soldier who had lost either one or both his limbs in battle from each of these Gemunu Watch battalions was chosen and each of them received a commode seat before the commencement of the Gemunu Watch Ex Servicemen’s Annual General Meeting. Many individuals and organizations made donations to make this project a success. A commode seat mounted on wheels that was donated by Mr. Srinath Dolage to the Manel Mal Movement was also handed over to an ex serviceman who had lost both his limbs in battle.

Cost of each commode seat was Rupees Six thousand nine hundred. Therefore the cost of twenty commode seats was Rupees one hundred and thirty eight thousand. The project accounts are given below for your information.
